Got this beauty in a recent multibass trade and was looking to get back to playing a 5'er in one of my projects. This 55-02 is GORGEOUS with the quilted top and the cherry-amber burst finish, and is in pretty clean shape with no real dings anywhere on the body and only light swirling here and there. Very clean for a bass that appears to have been played a fair bit at some point... I see minor fret wear on the D string in frets 3-5 that are consistent with a slap aficionado, but there is plenty of fret left and they would re-dress nicely. And slap's something this bass does monsterously well. With a bold, focused B, 35" scale and nicely voiceable pre-amp this thing SPEAKS modern funk. It's pretty versatile all around, but for me, I am admittedly looking for something a bit less modern sounding. Hence my trade requests for a nice playing 5'er with a thin neck, in 34"-35" scale with passive electronics. I would prefer a Lakland, but would be open to other options.

According to my pretty accurate kitchen scale (Tared to account for the towel) just a hair shy of 9 pounds.

I have a few potential deals in the works, but nothing has firmed up yet. Hit me up with any interesting trade offers!

These 2007 55-02's are the best, in my opinion. Korean made AND the LH3 system! Best of both worlds! People, do not hesitate to pick this one up! You will not be disappointed!

Yes, a veritable Swiss Army knife of modern high end tone, with a super-comfy 35" neck, with superb build quality and anvil-like reliability and stability.

Happy Saturday afternoon everybody! Surely you have an interesting five string that isn't quite scratching your itch? The more I play it, the more the tonal options really intrigue me. I might even consider a trade for a tobacco Sunburst version of the same bass? (Cherryburst over flamed maple, despite how beautifully this is finished, just really isn't my thing)

Surely there's another Lakie owner out there with a skyline DJ5 or a 55-60? a 55-64? A 55-AJ?
Cleaned and polished frets yesterday...

more life than that earlier picture showed.
Keep those offers coming!

Have played this for about 2 hours this afternoon...really starting to fall for this pre-amp. Still a little brighter than I would want with the treble all rolled off, but the amp eq can get me to a sweet spot. I wouldn't have thought the coil splitter on the rear p/u could make such a difference when running both pickups, but it really can change the amount of focus and attack such that it really punches through in a mix. It's going with me to my jazzy-pop-funk rehearsal tonight.

It's the color that disagrees with me most now. Anybody have a 55-02 in a different finish they'd like to trade? I'm open to that option as well.

Strongly considering a nice Fender some one has offered up, but I'm not sure the neck is going to work for me...seems chunkier than I'd like (big palms, short fingers) Gonna do some A-B'ing in the store tomorrow with my Lakland, but if someone is hanging on to a 55-60, a 55-64 an AJ-55 or a DJ-5, hit me up! Do it! Now!
