Hey bro! I know you've owned a few Roscoe's so I wanted to ask your opinion of the difference in the Bart pre compared to the Aggie?

I can answer that! The Aggie is of course more aggressive overall. However, when both the Aggie and Bart are set flat with that same output gain they are nearly identical. The main differences are the eq points and amounts of boost/cut. The Aggie has a low mid freq of 400hz which I think helps it cut through a little better than the lower Bart freq. Also, the Aggie has an astounding amount of bass on tap.

Yep, Owned lots of Roscoes. One of my favorite basses. Love the feel and the string spacing. This I believe is my first spanish cedar, which is a little fuller sounding to my ear than the ash bodies I have owned. In regards to the Aguilar, it opens it up and is less compressed or cloaked sounding when compared to the bart system , IMO. That is a good thing for me, but the aguilar preamp is very powerful and doesn't take much boost to be drastic. I struggled with my first Roscoe and Vic swapped out the bart pre for the aguilar pre and that did the trick for me. There is a lot of information in the old Roscoe forums regarding preamp swaps FWIW.

Not your first Spanish Cedar...you got a fretless Roscoe from me several years back with that body wood.
Ya, I have owned so many Roscoes, I couldn't remember for sure, but it was the fretless that was in question (at least in my mind anyway).
