This is the jewel of my collection. When I was more of a 5 string player, this bass was my go-to. And I still love the damn thing... but I'm feeling the itch to upgrade to a different Status. And I can't afford to "just buy another one", so I gotta move this to move on...

Over the years, I've had a couple Status Graphite basses and each of them has been fantastic. The Empathy I had before this was fancier with the woods and 3band EQ... but I like this bass better than that one! It's got a fantasticness you have to play to believe.
Despite the simplicity of controls, the bass can be dialed in to all kinds of different situations. From ultra deep throbbing dub tone to a crispity-crunchity Mark King tone, it's all there.
The frets were leveled and crowned, so they are perfect. The action can get stupid-low! It plays like a dream (which I why I love Status and won't ever hesitate to buy another one). Strings are Ken Smith and used for about 2 hours.
Before I got it, this bass got some use and there's 2 things I'd like to disclose:
1) There is a finish crack along the bass side of the fingerboard
I got the bass and this was there. The previous owner bought it with it and never noticed a problem. I had a local tech fill the crack, you can see it, but you can't feel it. It hasn't moved in the 3 years I've owned it and I trust the stability of this neck for MANY years to come.
2) The input jack area has some finish cracks.
I bet a cable got stepped on and stressed the finish. But the wood is STRONG and solid. I've taken out the preamp and checked it, all is well. But it's there and I want to tell you that.
That's it. The bass is amazing otherwise. If this was all Status made, I'd keep it. It gets compliments every time I use it. I just have some major GAS for a headless, LED'd version in a 4 string, so I have to pile up cash and wait for that to become available. And since this sits in the case looking pretty these days while my 4 bangers get played, I may as well let it go. GAS, she is a cruel mistress!
