They originally had 20 frets vs 22 for the BN5, this changed the relationship between the body and the neck including mass and pocket size which yielded a bigger bottom end and touch more Fender- like tone. It also created more of a sweet spot for slapping on the scale length. George figured out for this revived model how to add one extra fret without changing any of the other things mentioned above.
They also have a different body style- rounder on the end and with a shorter upper horn but more mass around the neck and more contact between the neck and body. I love it as it looks very classy and balanced to me.

Originally they were same scale as the BN5 at 34 1/2", but for these newer ones he went 34" which feels so comfy and familiar. He also added the dots on these as opposed to the blank boards. These newer ones also have one piece necks.

Many of these specs are custom specs at FBass which makes this a great value imo.

That is so nice to read….thank you for that! I do try my best to treat people exactly like I would like to be treated in buying an expensive instrument from someone on the internet. Its actually MY privilege that someone would trust me that much…its my luck….that people do. What a crazy way objectively to buy an instrument So I try make it as risk free and accurate a transaction as I can...

Knowing Mitch as a personal friend and having bought a bass from him in the past, I knew I was in good hands.

Also, having played a Studio 5 up at the Fbass shop this past summer, I knew I was getting a great bass!
