Details

For sale is a 1976 Fender P bass with a late 80s or early 90s Fender gig bag.
I purchased this bass in 1986 or 1987, don't remember exactly and it has been
in the arsenal longer than any other bass. It features a light ash body(not a boat
anchor) and maple board currently strung with tapes.
What is not original: no covers and no original case. Also the finished was stripped
the day I bought it as the lacquer had softened, there was a finish on the head stock
face as well, which I also removed. I left the original base coat on the body and it has a
nice satin feel.
Everything else is original except for the strings!
Price (see below) USD shipped to the lower 48.

I will get back to you on that, as I have never weighed any of my instruments!
It is light for a 70s Fender.

Not sure exactly what you mean by crazy; but like I mentioned, the head stock was also finished and had softened like the body.
I took the finish off the best I could and left the decal instead of sanding it all off.
Are you familiar with the characteristics of lacquer?

OK, I don't believe one should ever ask the weight of your date, but the scale says
8 pounds 8 ounces. So yeah she's very doable;)

Not long after purchasing my Kubicki, I recorded a song. I so wanted to use the ExFactor as it was and still is my all time favorite, but this P sat in the mix so much better.
I have gone through a lot of basses since purchasing this Fender.
IMO the ash body and maple board is the way to go on a P bass.
Back in the day a friend was wanting the body; and I wanted his bound pearloid block maple jazz neck, luckily neither of us could come to an agreement.

Very true, less than a new road worn Mexican!
It is nice and light to boot.

I turned down a beautiful mint "79 blonde with a maple board
and both covers and original case in the 80s because of
this bass. Lookin' back on it, I should have picked up the blonde!

The only other Ps that have intrigued me more
before or after I bought this bass are the elites.

Unfortunately it is not NOS, there is a reason
why there are so many refinished Fenders and
it isn't because the colors were ugly.
