Dingwall AB1 - Flamed Maple Top, Trans Red burst is stunning!!
Super low action with a one piece maple neck (has some Birdseye markings in it(?) and wenge fretboard.
FD-1 pickups with the push/pull bluEQube selector. BluEQube is (by Internet descriptions) a Mid-Cut, however I am not sure if that's the description I would give it....I find it ENHANCES the growl in most situations that require a serious punch. (I've read people have called this bluEQube "Passive PLUS").
VERY light weight (I have weighed it using THE most accurate professional series fishing weigh scale - which shows this bass weighs 8.62 (see photo). (Blurry--Sorry my young daughter took it while I held the scale)
I have 4 Dingwalls and this is my only 5 string, and it sees next to ZERO play time. I have it sitting on my guitar rack and it needs to have some play time.....I don't NEED to sell it, but I want it to be enjoyed by someone who kicks butt with 5 stringers.
It had a professional setup (a year or so ago) and it was clear at that time, from the technician, that this bass blew him away! He was astounded by this bass from sound to playability....he also said that he has played hundreds of basses through the years as a tech, and this sits in the top 3 for him, personally. So that was impressive coming from him.
An email from Sheldon regarding this bass: it has the FD1 pickups with the bluEQube. The FD1 pickups are a little brighter than the FD3 pickups. It also has the 4mm (5/32") truss rod end for adjustment.
This bass is 100% original and never been tampered with internally....(which to me, is important)
You will see from the photos, the finish front and back is amazing...never gigged (cuz I suck AND I only play at home....in a room, lights off...crying myself to sleep)
There is a photo showing the only marked area that I can find on it (it has a Canadian dime(USA nickel).. sarcasm sorry
.....and yup.....a grain of rice to show the size of it. (Yes, I'm THAT fussy....sad, I know)
Even more Full disclosure: I played it yesterday for the first time in about 9 months, and I heard some slight static thru the amp upon start up ONLY. I remember Sheldon saying usually turning the knobs 50-60 times back and forth in full rotation usually cleans them up...I haven't done that yet (at time of posting)....so that will be corrected before it lands in anyone's hands.
In a perfect world, I'd prefer a local sale - but I am willing to ship to the USA. The price is fairly firm ($2250 US) but I would negotiate a bit IF the buyer wants to pay for his/her own shipping etc.,...once funds clear, then they could arrange the courier/pickup from my office.
Any questions or anymore info required, please just start a conversation/PM so that it comes directly to my cell phone. I'm on the road a lot and it'll make for quicker response times back n forth.
Thanks for reading and checking out this beautiful bass....if I missed any details, please feel free to let me know.. Thanks again!
