This is a beautiful STR LS-549 5 string bass that I recently acquired in a trade. It was built in 2011 in Japan and is one of the earlier STR 5 strings (#319). The build quality on these early STR basses is outstanding. The feel and look is much like the Fodera's I have played. It's a very sold feeling instrument with tremendous sustain and absolutely ho dead spot at all!
It's in virtually new condition with no dings dents or scratches. The top is quite stunning in person with the "book matched" grain pattern of the flame redwood. The matching headstock really completes it's classy vibe.
A "high end" 5 string with a very versatile voice and top notch playability. The fret work is amazing, some of the best I've ever seen and the control cavity should be required study for some of the other builders out there. Beautifully laid out and very clean and neatly done!
