Hello TB Classified readers!
This is a bolt-on Ric clone, made in Japan. There's quite a bit I don't know about it. It's likely out of the coveted Matsumoku factory. I do not know the manufacturer, but from what I've read, a lot of these Ric clones from different companies were all practically the same.
I believe, based on the serial number, that it was made in 1976.
I'm unfamiliar with Rickenbackers, but all of the electronics work to my knowledge. Bass/treble volume and tone knobs and a pickup selector.
Currently strung with unknown flats. (Red silk... LaBella?) It sounds really cool and I'd love to keep it as it's the oldest instrument I've ever owned, and pretty unique in my mind. But I just have too many right now.
Please note a couple of issues:
It's missing the truss rod cover.
The bridge pickup seems to be a Seymour Duncan SRB-1b, but I can't confirm this to be a fact.
Some of the binding on the neck is pulling away a little bit. (Pictured below.)
There are some knicks on the body and a couple on the neck.
I haven't done anything with it since I got it a few years ago, other than put some new strap buttons on it. I only played it live once when my situation called for a fretless, otherwise it's sat in a gig bag.
