Offering this unique custom Garz 5 string, in near-new condition with top-of the line equipment (Check out the complete specs below). This 2008 custom build was restored last year by the original builder Mark Garza in California with a new neck, some light sanding to remove nicks etc., and refinished with a silky satin lacquer. The five-piece neck is maple/purpleheart, with a pau ferro fretboard. Mark has a great reputation for custom building and service. The result is a bass that's like new, virtually mint condition. It hasn't left my home since getting it from Mark.
YOu might describe this bass as a Musicman on steroids, with the best hardware including Nordstrand Dual Coil MM humbuckers (retail over $300). The TBer who commissioned it told me the set up imitated the Musicman 5 and the custom body was patterned on a Fodera. Mark told me it has the most tonal options of any bass he's ever built. There's a master volume knob, with pull-up passive option, a passive tone control, pickup blend knob, and separate controls for treble, mids and bass. THree switches, mid frequency and two 3-way switches to select pickups in series, single coil and parallel. Whew! Today this bass would cost well over $3,000.
One tiny surface blem on the front that's barely noticeable. Everything works as designed, including the passive/active pull volume pot. Sporting new D'Addario half-round pure nickel strings. The satin-finish neck and pau ferro fretboard are just super. Sets up beautifully with low action and the 16-in radius makes it easy to move along the neck and fret evenly along the board. The B string is massive. Ships in a fitting lightweight case in good condition.
