Details

Selling my beloved Bossa UJB-4, which is in wonderful shape.

The color is a bit hard to describe, but it's a brownish dark purple that's semi-translucent. Very pretty and very unusual.

Back when I first bought it, I had a Badass II bridge professionally installed. Otherwise, the only other modifications are I removed the pickguard and I replaced the control plate after the original, flamed maple veneer one cracked.

Unlike pretty much every other Bossa I've seen, this one is passive and has custom wound single-coil pickups, which sound very, very warm and sweet. Soundmen love this bass.

Has two very minor dings, which can be seen in the last photo. Otherwise, bass is in perfect shape. Currently strung with La Bella quarterwounds.

$625 shipped CONUS.

Asking $1400 + shipping.

A nice UJB bass that way & indeed unusual...as I never saw a passive version with Single Coils before...looks the action is set quite high, isn't it?....would love to hear how this one sounds! :-)

The action isn't super low right now, but I wouldn't say it's particularly high either. That said, I went through a Marcus/Victor phase on this bass when I bought it about 20 years ago, and it definitely can do low action if you want it to.

Right now, it has La Bella quarter wounds on it, which are nice and warm, but not a particularly modern-sounding string. I've also had TI Jazz flats on it, which was cool as well. Back in the aforementioned Marcus/Victor days, I had XLs on it, which sounded great for more modern stuff.

I'll see if I can find a way to get some sound clips of it together.

As far as I know, the body wood is alder. I'll see if I can take another photo where you can see the grain a bit better.

Also, when I'm home later I'll weigh it on my bathroom scale. Stay tuned.

Here’s an audio sample I was able to put together.

Nothing too fancy. Just bridge pickup, soloed > Line 6 Sonic Port > AudioShare (iOS). No EQ or compression.

Let me know if there’s anything specific you’d like me to play on it (e.g., a particular song, etc.).

Thank you!...the bridge Pu sounds sweet & warm...really nice!.:-)..well, I would love to hear a bit of slapping with both Pu's if that's not too much asked :-)
