I wonder how he's doing? That whole Coffee Park area was decimated by the fire last year.

EDIT: Actually just looked him up. Looks like Michael Dolan Guitars is closed. :(

I own 2 of his basses. Awesome quality, especially for the price. Always thought he under charged for his work. Good luck selling it, sure it sounds great

Yes, he is semi retired now. You can find him on facebook. Another fantastic builder, Bob Groat, took over his shop in Santa Rosa.

Great looking basses. Good luck with the sale.

Bob Groat did a fantastic repair/refinish job on a Rob Allen of mine that had a wear spot above a pup when I got it, and was very patient with my color indecisiveness. We found the right tone (color, that is), and a few years later even Rob said how much he liked it when I sent it in for a setup.

So when you say
Precision spacing is it 3/4” or 19mm string spacing?
How does it play and sound?
I take it that with the pickup right at the end of the fingerboard it would not be conducive to slap and popping. What you think?
Thanks

I'm not a snapper nor a popper so I can't say as to whether or not the pickup would affect that style of playing. Any percussive effects I use in my playing are done at the highest frets on the fingerboard. I think it sounds fine,I have it loaded with fairly light D'Addario roundwounds which are bright and springy. Sound and playability are really subjective. The bass is passive and somewhat neutral sounding, so you have more control of the tone using pickup selection, hand placement and the EQ on your amp or board.
The quality of construction and hardware together your choice of strings should make the bass fit your playing style. I'm pretty sure the Hipshot bridge is 3/4 inch spacing.
