Details

This particular Moollon has pickups wound by Charlie Davis. Please Google him. One of the original Fender team, he winds pickups with the original stuff on the original machines from the old Fender factory. They sound REALLY, REALLY GOOD.

These instruments truly deserve all the rave press they've been getting lately - they really are excellent early-Fender substitutes. Everything rates 'excellent' - feel, playability, sound. I'm going to get some hate mail for saying this, but I prefer this to the new Fender stuff... by a wide margin. All proprietary, meticulously built bridge and machine heads by Moollon. Light epoxy coat on a fretless Macassar Ebony board (with lines), 7.25 in radius. Alder body. Real nitro finish, lightly (factory) scuffed up to take off the shine, at the request of the original owner at the time of ordering. It's not a true relic treatment though; I think it was just to rid it of the "shiny-shiny new!" kind of feeling.

Free shipping to anywhere in the U.S.A.

The photos were taken with an iPhone - no fancy photo editing. I tried to choose photos that look close to what the instrument looks like in person. Please feel free to ask any questions you like. Thank you!

Hi, I'm the seller. I apologize in advance for spotty communications over the next several days. We have a hurricane headed this way so everyone is busy with getting ready, questionable electricity, etc. Bless all music friends! Thank you! Jon

Hi slothlane, Thanks for the well wishes - the flooding wasn't so great but it could have been a lot, lot worse. No reason to complain. Seriously, all respect to Mother Nature - thank you for not wiping us off the face of the Earth!

The Moollon - in terms of feel, sound, attention to detail, etc., I think these instruments are actually comparable or superior to most boutique Fender-ish instruments costing a lot, lot more. They're still not well-known though, and they do have an odd-sounding name... I guess neither of this helps... ' ___ '

Hi Bellows. Hmm... maybe it's better not take the chance. These Moollon basses actually have macassar ebony fingerboards but I wonder if some over-zealous inspector will mistakenly identify it as some type of rosewood...? From what I understand exemption permits can be obtained to send pre-2017 instruments with rosewood components internationally, but there is a fee involved and it takes time to acquire.

Not sold yet, but I'm out of the country for at least another week. I'll change the status back to FOR SALE when I get back!

Yes, thank you for reminding me. I just changed the sign back to "For Sale" again, sorry. I kind of forgot about trying to sell basses lately, but I'll get back to doing that now. Thank you!
