My painful purging continues. This is my beloved short scale semi hollow bass from Chris Stambaugh.

Chris did this bass as a heavily chambered body with a carved top and a set neck. Sort of a cross between the Starfire and how Rickenbacker does their semi-hollows. The finish is really interesting as it is painted gloss on the face of the body with the rest of the bass being tung-oiled wood for a great feel

The specs:
32" scale
4 strings
African mahogany body
3 piece neck - Mahogany with a Maple center stripe
Chechen fingerboard with white binding and dots
Hipshot ultralite lollipop tuners (chrome)
Teal burst top with binding and a tung oil finish on the back of the body and neck
Chrome Hipshot D-style bridge
Custom titanium knobs and switch tip
6 position Tonestyler (the controls are volume, pickup selector switch, and Tonestyler)
Custom Neo pickups in chrome T-bird covers wired for series/single coil switching

I can make a quick video if anyone would like, but here are some photos:

In progress shot (its in the foreground and you can see how much the top was carved.

Here's a shot of the back (I've since added a strap button behind the bridge because I like how it balances on strap better that way)

Here's a shot of the hardware including the custom titanium knobs and switch tip as well as the Hipshot D style bridge. It can be strung through the body or just through the bridge.

Here's a video clip starring the bass and co-starring my pets and my youngest (who is clicking away on the computer in the background).

I just shot it with my phone so hopefully it gives you an idea of the sounds.

Jared, how many Stambaugh's do you have? :)
Thanks for the Stambaugh gallery.
Is there a center block on this bass ?
Passive ? Weight ?
The 2 knobs seem to have 6 positions ?
Who made the pickups ?
Thanks

I will tell you how many Stambaughs I have if you promise not to tell my wife!

Yes, there's a center block. It's heavily chambered but a definite semi-hollow rather than a bent sides hollowbody .

It is passive (volume, pickup selector, and Stellartone Tonestyler) and it weighs 8.2 lbs.

The dots on the knobs are just decorative but as it happens the Tonestyler is the 6 position version, which I like a lot more than the one I had on another bass that had 12 or 16 positions which were too many IMO.

The pickups are by SGD. Everything has already been said about the way he ran his business (or failed to run his business) but the pickups are damn good.
