For sale is a circa-2013 USA G&L L2500 5-string bass in black with maple made in Fullerton, California. This bass has two G&L Magnetic Field humbucking pickups, active electronics with 3-position pickup selector, series/parallel switch, 3-position pre-amp mode switch, with volume, treble and bass knobs, and coil-tap switch, producing a HUGE variety of tones. This is the second L2500 I’ve owned, along with a half-dozen L2000s. I love the flexibility of these basses, I call them Swiss Army Knife basses because they can do everything. I bought this one for a new country project but really needed a Precision (more to appease the snobs than the tone) so I’m passing this one along. This bass features a 34″ scale neck flat-sawn Hard Rock Maple neck with a Maple fretboard that has some beautiful figuring. The nut width is 1 3/4”. Weight on my kitchen scale is 9 pounds 10 ounces, which is great for a 5er. It plays and sounds great. I bought this bass last year here, and it is in near-perfect shape, with some minor swirling below the G string.

I'm asking $1,100 $1,000, PayPal is fine, contact me for other payment methods. Free delivery anywhere in the Houston area. Will ship to continental US FREE or to Alaska/Hawaii for actual shipping. I will ship it the original hard-shell case. It will be wrapped in bubble wrap and packed in a new cardboard box. Will consider shipping to Canada for actual shipping, insurance and duty costs based on sales price. No International shipping, sorry. This awesome bass deserves to have someone who will appreciate it. I’ve been asked to reduce my stable to a “normal” number of basses, so no trades, sorry.

Feel free to ask questions in the comments or PM me directly.

Hey – nice bass. I’ve got a couple questions. First, you’ve got a pic of the back of the neck. Is there a little ding there? What fret is it opposite?

Second – is that some scuffing on the back of the body?

Finally, how’s the action on this beast. I like them low.

Hi Thumper,

Thanks! I took that picture of the back of the neck to show the cool grain. When I looked at the pictures, I saw that dark area and thought the same thing you did, but there is no ding, that's completely smooth, just an imperfection in the wood grain.

The action right now is medium, I'm a very heavy handed player and if I set it up super low I get fret buzz, which I hate. I think you should have no problem setting this up the way you'd like it.

Oops, missed your second question, I think you're seeing some marks on top of the finish, likely from a stand, not scuffs or dings. They look much worse in the picture than in real life because of the almost mirror gloss.

My good friend Mitch (whose first instrument is drums actually ) is the buyer of this fine bass and he's loving it. I think I might be at least partially responsible for steering him to G&L bc I have the Tribute version of this bass and I've been singing its praises. The only problem is that he has a better bass than me now.

Great to hear he’s enjoying it! I have a drummer friend who switched to bass, and he’s a great bass player now, I think there’s a big advantage in understanding rhythms first.

I agree, I think that it's a definite advantage for drummers who learn bass, or vice versa. My friend has a great ear for pitch too so that also helps. He's really coming into his own with it.
