So I played Lakland basses for many years but as I got older I found that the 35" string spacing was getting hard on my left hand so I switched to 34" scale. Unfortunately Lakland doesn't make a 34" scale 5 string so I had to look for something similar. What I discovered was that the Skyline Series Lakland basses were being made in the Cort factory. So figured that maybe a Cort brand 34" 5 string might feel and play like a Lakland. Well it turns out I was right. This Cort GB35J does feel and play very much like a Lakland IMO but it's a 34" scale. Problem solved!
So I bought two of these and have used them for several years. Now, I find myself with more basses than I need and not as many gigs as I use to have so I'm putting this one up for sale. It's in great shape with only one noticeable scratch on the back by the neck screws. It will come with a Cort branded Gig Bag, or for $50.00 more I will ship it in the vintage style hard shell case shown in the photos. Either way the Gig Bag will be included.
This bass is very comfortable to play. It has a medium/low action with just the right amount of relief in the neck. If I close my eyes it feels like a Lakland neck. The truss rod works perfectly and the electronics are nice and quiet. All in all, a very nice passive 5 string bass for a reasonable price!
One more thing, this is an older model from around 2012 and I feel these are much better made than the current models. You don't see these very often on the used market. The new models are a lot heavier.
