Greetings Fellow TBers,
I would like to start by paying homage to the late great "Bob Gorny"
Bob was my friend & mentor & I greatly miss him!!
Bob was rather infamous not only in his native "Chicagoland" area but arguably world wide & provided a service not only to the "little guys" but some of the biggest names in the business & treated all his customers with the same respect & integrity!!
Bob was around for many years before his untimely passing & considered a "Chicago Institution"
Bob was the "go to " guy for any type of repair, mods & made some of the best guitars & basses in the industry. This "Gentle Giant" would take on ANY job large or small & always considered the customers feelings first even if "unconventional" or "seemingly impossible" as in a number of my projects which one I'm about to present.
I never thought I would do this because it's become a member of the family as opposed to "another instrument in the closet" but it is because of that last quote that I must consider doing this, that said,
I would NOT EVEN consider putting this special piece on "FeeBay" or any other forum for that matter for it is ONLY here on TB I feel it would be understood & appreciated!!
This piece needs to be put in the right hands & played versus sitting in the closet. She is most certainly loved but I've become a believer in 35" scales or better & really don't use a High "C" as much as a Low "B" plus I just got the "itch" for something else (You KNOW How It Is lol) I prefer Walnut, Ebony & Wenge for tone woods..
So here are the Specs:
Weight: 9 Lbs
2 piece book matched to center:
AAAAAA Grade Seemingly 3D Flame Maple body (no tops, veneers, or cores here!)
The same grade 1 piece Flame Maple neck (Bonded/Set)
Pao Ferro Fingerboard
(25 frets 34" Scale) with Abalone inlays & phosphorescent side markers
(glow in the dark)
Purple Heart Neck Heel, Bridge Block & Head Cap
Bartolini Humbuckers & Tone Circuit (Passive, Volume X 2 & Tone)
German Made Bridge & Head Stop
(Don't remember the brand but the best available at the time)
Setup for Medium action, I like to "Dig In" but can be easily adjusted for whatever action you like, has 2 truss rods. Has New
Di Addario .130's on her.
Build Completed 6-29-02
Serial Number 279
As far as I know this is the only "Gorny Headless" in existence making it a rather "Rare Bird" Indeed
Trade interests include but not limited to
5 or 6 bangers, 35" min scale, 17mm min string spacing @ Bridge:
Lakland
Alembic
Dingwall
Carl Thompson
Tobias/MTD
Status
Modulus
Fender Elite/Custom Shop
Again open to trades not listed with 35" min scale & 17 mm min string spacing @ bridge, prefer neck through but not a deal breaker especially if you have a "Lakie" Prefer Walnut, Wenge & Ebony Tonewoods
Would also consider High End Tube Amps, Pre's & DI's i.e. Ashdown, Avalon, Aguillar, Alembic, Ampeg, Demeter, Mesa, Berg, Epifani, Trace, Reddi etc. etc.
So there you go, please PM me with any inquiries & have more pics of need be!!
Cheers!!
