Purchased very recently on Reverb, from the original owner. Here's his description -

1979 Peavey T-40 Bass in unplayed condition. I bought this at Driver Music in Bethany, Oklahoma in 1979. Original warranty card and paperwork dates the sale to 12-28-79. One of the first bass in white with a rosewood fretboard. Its been in storage for all these years and I've never played it. Original strings and I just straightened the neck and the bass plays well. Electronics just cleaned and work great. Serial number is 00465363. Case was dusty so I cleaned it off and it looks great too. No damage, road wear or playing wear to the case or bass.

Seriously, this is New Old Stock. Practically a museum piece. Includes all the original paperwork and case candy. It did *not* come with a truss wrench, so I got an AllParts one that works perfectly.

Truss adjusts easily, as does the micro-tilt, bridge screws, etc. Everything is smooth and perfect. Neck is perfect, none of the crack issues that these can have. It appeared to have zero tension, so I tightened the truss about 1/4 turn and micro-adjusted another 1/4. Strung with a brand new set of D'Addario Chromes, 45-100.

It is the tone monster it is made out to be. So much variety, including the closest to a Ric 4001/4003 you will get. Pots & jack are perfect. It weighs 12.2 lbs (oof). Can throw in a wide/padded strap, if you'd like.

So, why is it here? It was for an 80s gig that fell through, and I don't like having extra basses around.

Mostly looking for a 5er with very skinny/narrow neck. Peavey US Mill, Peavey Forum, Peavey Cirrus BXP, etc. Carvin, maybe Ibanez, Yamaha... Surprise me. Prefer to trade across/up.

Now up for sale too. 650 shipped, incl. OHSC, strap, original strings, and the current set of flatwounds. Everything in the pics+. Will throw in the truss wrench I bought for it as well.

Yeah, I believe it was the first year for the rosewood, and it was an optional add-on. Know of any others? Has a thumbrest/pullbar in the package too.
