This amp was instant tone heaven for me, I've had mine for two years now. Three-12AX7 preamp that can go as clean or dirty as you want it to be, and the dirt you can dial in is a very usable, musical dirt. Not being a "dirt" guy, historically, I was surprised to see that my go-to setting was just at the edge of a tiny bit of dirt. Sounds like a Jamerson soloed tone. No audible dirt in the mix, but a wonderful "bounce" (for lack of a better word) with a little natural compression, for a potent fat tone with no muddiness.
But if not, there's lots of useful info on it. Yeah, I'm an unabashed fanboi If I didn't already have one of these, I'd buy it right now. Still find myself trying to justify buying a second to take advantage of this good deal.

Yeah, it's no secret that I'm a big fan of all-tube amps, but I'm really looking forward to playing through the R400. I'm a fan of tube preamps that run at high (~300v) voltage, and I imagine that is one of the reasons the R400 gets such rave tone reviews.
