GHS call these their "3rd" kind of string (or is it their 4th?) they are sort of between a round wound and a half round. but no tacky feel to them. they are essentially a round wound - they sound like round wounds that are not super bright. they were originally engineered/marketed for FRETLESS BASS because they are smoothed out to be easier on your fingerboard (or frets)
