Hey. So I have this fretless bass. It started out as a squier 70s classic vibe, now has a fretless fender neck, fender pickups and pots (i did all this before the strat wars) but I can't really get it to sound good. Was thinking of trying a new preamp or something. What do yall use?
2 sets of new, unopened sets. These are round wound but have gone through a process that makes them friendlier to frets & freltess fingerboards. Less finger noise as well.
Long scale - 37.25" wind.

I'm currently in the process of owning a fretless 6-string. I just want to know what I'm getting myself into. Could some of you guys who own a fretless bass tell me how it is?
PS: The fretless instrument I'm currently trying to get is a Combine D.I.Y 6-string fretless bass kit.
Anyone with any tips for playing fretless bass above the "12th"? I've tried a few ways to improve my initial pitch accuracy but I'm curious as to how more experienced players handle it. Applying buckets of vibrato or sliding up to every note are not very musical.
New condition. Made and bought from luthier JCR located in Spain in 2024. Never played much and never left my home. More info on request. But this is a beautiful boutique of a fretless bass. Made with an Aguilar Ob3 preamp and Bartolini Super Dbl pickups. I had this bass modeled to...

I have three electric fretless basses that I want to modify.
I am inspired by uprights & gothabilly / punk. Specifically, this guy. He's got an EUB with a pickup for the slap sounds that goes through a specific signal chain of a limiter, EQ to cut the lows out, and reverb.
Any recommendations...

Hey all,
I've searched through some of the forums to try to narrow down some info on this, but from how I searched the relevant threads were fairly short. So, I'm going to start a new thread for myself.

Greetings! I'm taking the frets out of a bass neck and had questions about after... because even though it's a cheap neck bought from an anonymous trench coat wearing man in an alley, not an heirloom, I still want to do a good job so the neck is good enough to use for my "platform to learn how...
Sterling by MusicMan (SBMM) no longer makes new fretless models. I have found that the quality of the Ray34 and 35 series rival the sound quality of the EB Stingrays without the corresponding high price tag.
So these make great candidates to upgrade and defret for those players who want a great...

As I was getting a little practice/stress relief in on my fretless five before a 10+ hour Saturday Chef shift;
the thought occurred to me that playing fretless in tune is not the fearsome feat many believe it to be. Case in point:
I learned to play the trombone in 7th grade back...
I just ordered one recently after looking at it online for a few years and It's coming in 4 days. If you own this bass, what are your honest opinions on it? how was it outside of the box? is it good for the price? Thank you for any comments!
