This is a one off jazz style prototype custom hand built by Adam Falkner (rojo412) whose basses have won some of the TB build off competitions in recent years. This is the 3rd bass I’ve bought from Adam. Each bass is unique and completely hand built, and he has many build threads in the luthiers corner if you want to see how he works: Search Results | TalkBass.com
For reference base price for a new build starts at $2,000 and takes about 3-4 months. As a prototype build I got it for $1400 so I’m asking the same, and also including a Mono Vertigo case
El Obligato specs:
- Walnut crotch body wings on a swamp ash core
- Birdseye neck (quartersawn) with graphite supports (Neck shape is very similar to a stingray IMO, maybe a bit thicker)
- granadillo board, 20” radius
-24 stainless frets
-reflective aluminum side markers
- Inlaid brass inserts in the neck and stainless machine screw attachments
- Gotoh 707 tuners and Gotoh bridge
- Nordy 2B preamp with internal gain pot and hi freq select switch: vol (pull for s/p), blend, passive only tone (pull for cap/freq select), stacked B/T (active only), Active/Passive switch
- Suhr-designed Fender Deluxe split coil pickups from the late 90s/early 00s (L/S sizes with 70s spacing)
- 18mm spacing at the bridge
- magnetic ash cavity cover
-33.5” scale
- 1 7/8 nut
- 9lbs 1oz
- includes MONO Vertigo case
There is one imperfection visible only from the back(see pics):
“On the upper horn, when I was building it, I had a chip-out happen. So I grafted a new piece onto it with epoxy and it's rock solid... but worth mentioning”
