Details

Selling my 1959 King Mortone. Late 2019 details from a previous owner: "Bass has received a full set up with new sound post, bridge, bridge adjusters, Fishman Full Circle pickup, Gotz end pin, fingerboard dressing, and pro neck re-set at the world famous Robertson and Sons Violin Shop in Albuquerque, NM, in 2015." Bass is currently wearing Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Golds/EP "Slaps" and the sound pizz or arco is amazing.

The bass is in great shape, is LOUD acoustic and sounds great through the Fishman. It has plenty of dings and scratches you might expect from an older upright that was well used and well loved.

The edge of the treble scroll has been knocked off. The tuners have a slight rattle that I haven't had a chance to investigate; a rubber band eliminates the noise. There appears to be no impact on holding tune. Detailed pics available on request and will be posted shortly.

See my NBD thread here for some fun details about the trade I made for it: NBD - 1959 King Moretone

The second picture below shows the accurate color.

Willing to drive a reasonable distance to facilitate a sale. The bass is currently for sale on Reverb, but I'm open to offers from TB-ers with good feedback OR possible trade/multiple trade+cash toward a Skjold 6/33? Shoot me a PM.

This is a REALLY nice old King, I can attest to that fact. If you're looking for a vintage King, it will be very difficult to find one in better shape than this one, and it sounds great.

Thanks for posting, Jeremy! It sounds disengenuous to say "I know I'll regret it" but this really is a nice instrument that I'll one day kick myself about.

But I'm really investing my time and efforts in a whole different direction, and my student isn't actually in a position to buy my Engelhardt--so I'm about to have TWO 3/4 uprights and one 1/4 upright in the house not getting played!
