Details

Yamaha APXT2NA Junior Guitar converted to bass uke, 23” scale, 34” long, includes gig bag. It has a pickup attached to the underside of the top near the bridge. I had an on/off switch added for the preamp to save the battery when an amp cable is plugged in. Galli 23" black round wound strings, plus an extra set without the G string (I broke it and had to buy another set). Bought it from Guitar Center for $199.99 in Oct. 2016, the conversion with parts and strings cost $175, asking $150 plus shipping (about $25). Selling it to fund a custom bass uke.

I guess I'm mostly curious how the conversion ended up. Is it more or less in the U-bass vicinity for tone and general sound?

I find that sound clips are pretty much useless with how different one computer audio is to another. What do you need to know, I'll answer any questions.

Looks great! How is the intonation? Stock pickup? Galli UXB810 strings? Thanks

I think I have it sold, but until I get the payment, here are the answers. Intonation is very good, it has the stock pickup, which is a piezo disc attached under the top at the bridge, Kala/Galli 23" scale black coated round wound.

Roger on sold but I have one and would like to convert it.
May I ask what tuners you used?
If you are familiar with an Ibby pnb14, how would it compare plugged in?
Did you use a straight bridge or comped?
How do the strings anchor in your pinless bridge

Thanks

Not sold yet. I had a set of tuners lying around, black standard bass tuners that worked with the Galli strings. don't know where I got them. If you plan on using poly strings, I would suggest buying a set of fatter spool Goto ($50 on amazon) or HipShot license ($70 from HipShot), I've used them on other bass ukes. I don't know the Ibanez. The bridge is the one that came with the guitar, string through. I had my luthier drill holes in it to fit the bass strings, which have barrel ends. To install the strings, I push down a string into a hole, grab it from the sound hole, then tape the tip to the tip of the new string and pull it up through the bridge hole. The barrel stops it under the bridge.
