This TL-5 has a gorgeous finish on it. This is the only one I have seen in this color. The gold is in nice condition and one of the tuners has been replaced with a Gotoh. The bass has a Bartolini preamp installed and the controls are master volume, blend, bass, mid and treble (bass and treble are on the stacked controls). Everything works as it should and it sounds mighty nice. It will go from bright to old school thumpy. The action is low and the bass plays great. It weighs 9 pounds, 14.5 ounces. The bass has a new output jack. The fingerboard is ebony.
The finish is in great shape (only minor surface scratches) with the exception of two areas. There are some very small scratches near the bottom strap button and some chips in the finish on the rear of the tip of the headstock. The remainder of the bass is quite clean and it looks great. There is one spot on the treble side of the neck where there is a light colored spot. The finish is smooth in that area and cannot be felt but I assume it is an old repair or a factory defect....defect is unlikely IMO.
