Ibanez BTB845V – Modified

I’m going a different direction in my bass playing. OK. I buy instruments to gig, not collect. Here’s what I have done to it to make this bass a comfortable, quiet, dependable gig bass, and Ibanez has engineered the headstock so even though 33-inch scale, the bass takes any standard long scale set of strings:

1) Professionally set up with a B-G nut instead of the stock E-C
2) USA Bart CBC pickups with EMG preamp – ultimate versatility, lowest noise.
3) MV, Balance, stack B-T, stack Mid level/frequency, extra passive treble roll-off to tame new string zing, drop any leftover residual noise, or just a different character, and in-line bass cut capacitor to the bridge pickup on the mini switch
4) Battery box upgraded
5) Hipshot USA Ultralite tuners
6) Relieved forearm
7) Ibanez Powerpad gig bag included

The specs have changed since this bass was manufactured. I have the Jatoba fingerboard.

$750 OBO includes shipping CONUS, payment by Paypal.

What gauge of strings was the nut cut for, and anything significant about the paper (or whatever that is) on the bridge G saddle?

The nut is cut for standard 45-130. The paper is taming a particularly bright G string.

Forgive my ignorance, what exactly does the switch do?
The switch is for an in-line capacitor between the bridge pickup and the balance control. It cuts the lows for a cleaner sound when you blend the two pickups together. It is essentially the same as the in-line capacitor on a Rickenbacker bass, with the value of the capacitor changed to account for the pickup being closer to the bridge. The effect is subtle, but it cleans up the impedance volume drop that occurs on most Jazz basses when you dime both volume knobs.

Do you have the original E-C nut?
How's the truss?
How's the action- able to get it low? Particularly, when in the E-c format?

I can't find the original nut. I will keep looking. The truss rod is great. I have had various strings on it, and it adjusts out for each set just fine. The action is low. It may feel a little higher, but remember that with the slightly shorter scale, there is slightly less tension on the strings compared to the same set installed on a 34-inch scale. So there is a little more string excursion to be accounted for. I have had my luthier go over it to make sure all the frets are consistent, no fret sprout, etc. I never played it for any extended period in E-c format. As soon as I got it, after playing it for just a few minutes to make sure nothing was wrong with it, it went straight to my luthier for the B-G conversion. Thanks for your questions.
