For sale 1975 Fender Precision Fretless w/ OHSC *PRICE DROP AGAIN*

Up for sale is my 1975 fretless Fender Precision, SN 644340. I purchased it in 2010 as the 4th owner, and it has sat in a case or a stand ever since and rarely been played. It has a beautiful, straight B-width maple board with nicely rolled edges, almost no string wear, nice low action at the nut, and gets great 'mwah' up the entire length of the fingerboard. The body appears to be swamp ash with a natural finish that has taken on a uniform yellowing over the years, and weighs a relatively light 8.8 lbs. Hardware is all original as evidenced by a consistent patina throughout. The tuning machines operate smoothly, and the pots turn easily without crackling, and no connection issues at the jack.


Like many mid 70s basses, this one didn't make it through without being modified. At some point it had a Bartolini jazz pickup installed VVT with a professional-looking wiring job and a nice tight body route. Not sure the age of the pickup, but it's old. The back of the neck has been sanded, and has that smooth raw wood feeling. The original pickguard and ashtrays are lost to the ages. Comes with OHSC, clasps all work but no key to the lock. Strung with a barely-played set of Chromes.

Imperfections include light surface scratching on the back of the body, and some light to moderate clear coat scratches and pitting (detailed in pics) on the lower horn and bout. There is probably a cigarette burn below the E tuning peg, but neither the bass nor the case has ever smelled like smoke. Nothing affects playability in any way. I would rate the overall condition as very good.

This bass is not a collector's closet queen, but has it were it counts...a neck that is a joy to play on, good weight, and a warm, organic fretless tone. Selling because I want it to go to someone that can play a fretless better than I can. Price is now $2000 shipped to CONUS, and I will entertain reasonable offers. PM or text are acceptable.
