I recently got a new Lovetone Meatball for my birthday, my second one, as my first was stolen 10 years ago. Th Lovetone Meatball is by far my favorite bass/filter effect, but was also ranked as the number analog effect of all time.

I've been using a an exact clone in a smaller enclosure with a Moog mod footswitch for the last 2 years in the studio, and it's flawless when compare to the Meatball. Effects Loop, Exp pedal connection, its got it all. Other than the mod the circuitry is EXACTLY the same. I love putting an OC-2 or some dirt in the Effects loop.

Selling to sell for $205 shipped, or am interested in trades such as synths, filters, sub octaves, delays, reverbs, midi foot controllers.

Here's the description:
Clone of Lovepedal's Meatball.

"The craziest, out of this world envelope filter you've ever heard! It's the creme' le' creme' of all envelope filters! Super duper phat and funky! It's like a synthesizer in many ways. From a drastically long sweep and plop, to sounds I can't even describe. But with a blend control, you can adjust from 100% wet to a subtle effect.

It can do the heart stopping funky bass notes. It can do the Mutron. Mimic alien speech, switch to Low Pass for some of the deepest and liveliest notes you've ever heard. Fantastic for dance type guitar! The decay knob is a lot of fun. On the Up wah, turn down the decay for a phaser type sound. Sweeps fast or sweeps slowly with a wild splashy plop! You can even turn the filter off and play with just the settings minus the filter for unlimited control over your tone.

The Moog switch on the right side triggers the moog effect. To my understanding, it changes the Q with the frequency. Otherwise, it seems the Q changes with the intensity knob. It's originally designed to just be a toggle switch. However, I can totally see how someone would want to activate/deactivate the Moog effect during a live show. So I made it into a stomp switch. I'm sorry I didn't install an indicator led for that switch. I will next time. You will begin to notice if it's on or off just by hearing it. It's pretty easy to notice. Otherwise, and led is simple to wire up.

It has an fx loop that works great! By running a chorus, delay, phaser or whatever you want; You'll have unlimited options on your effect.

The bottom led indicates that the effect is on. The top led pulses with the performance of the vactrol.

The intensity and delay outputs were meant to be controlled by a very high value volume pedal. Just use the pedal out jack.
I tried 250k and it didn't seem to be enough. Maybe 500k will work?
Otherwise, it's a prototype and I will omit them on my next build. I don't see myself or anyone else having the estate for all that equipment. Its wired up correctly. But I cannot guarantee how usable it is, because I don't have a high impedance volume pedal.

But EVERYTHING else works fantastic! I have made and tried a LOT of pedals! And this thing is a blast!!

I used an Xvive vtl-5c3 led/ldr for maximum response. I even tried several different variations. And no doubt, the most expensive part makes a big difference!

There are tons of controls! But don't let them freak you out. The 4 bottom ones are actually just switches. All the controls interact with each other. There are some settings where nothing is happening. It will help if you understand exactly how the controls work. If you download a Lovetone Meatball manual, it will tell in depth, the exact function of all the controls. It's a total blast! I've never had this much fun with any other effect! Seriously!

Built with WIMA and Panasonic caps. Alpha pots and switches, 1% metal film resistors and the Xvive vactrols. All the best parts parts you can buy are stuffed into this fun box! It took a lot of my time and it was a very expensive build. But VERY worth it! My future builds will substitute the WIMA caps with similar quality caps, and I will make a few subtle changes that have no tonal effect. I list some of those changes below.

The pedal is new but has been assembled and dismantled often, since it's a prototype. There was a lot of testing and changing. But its still in pretty nice condition as you can see in the photos. Painted with a metallic sparkly blue! I plan to only make about 10 of them, and this is 1 of 10.
My next builds will omit the expression Jacks and install the input and output Jacks on top as well as install an led indicator for the moog switch.
But I have other projects too, so it will be a while before I begin building again.

Because it shows signs of use, I will offer this one at a lower rate. Some paint has chipped off during its constant travels from testing to the workbench. You can use Rustoleum Metallic Blue if you want to touch it back up?
But it's performance is perfecto! Save yourself hundreds of dollars and buy yourself the clone. I promise.... if funky is what you're after, you won't be disappointed!!!"
