Details

I have a Yamaha BB5000 for sale. It has the classic upgrade of EMG pickups that so many people did on these basses. It's in great shape but missing the brass ring around the bridge pickup. It plays great, it sounds awesome, and it is even all over the neck. I've recorded with it a bunch over the last year or so. The neck is tight compared to most basses, with a nut width 44mm (1.73 inches), but it didn't take much time for me to adjust to it. Scale Length is 860mm (33.85 inches). I believe this is an '87, 9.6lbs and I think it is made in Taiwan. It comes with a hard case in good condition, but the zipper pull is broken, and it has a zip tie running through the loop.

$1100 PayPal is fine and let's split the shipping.

I am willing to trade up with $$ for something cool, traditional but boutique and fender-ish. Sadowsky, Lakland, F Bass, etc. Also a good mid-level fretless would be nice. I might downsize my fretless situation and sell my Pedulla, but I need a replacement first.

Sorry about the reflections. I'll try to take some more pics since I screwed up some of the croppings.

Sweet Baby Murphy...

My very first bass was a 1991-ish Yamaha BB300. I no longer have it, but have been wanting to get back into a BB for years now, and as much as I like some of the newer iterations of the line, there's something about these ones from the 1980s... :bassist: :hyper: :woot:

I’m out of town right now, but I think it is 34. Feels like that or some equivalent to metric measurement. I get back tomorrow and I’ll check then.

Internet says
Scale Length 860mm (33.85 inches)
Nut Width 44mm (1.73 inches)

do you happen to have any recordings of the bass by itself?
I'm out of town until the middle of next week. I can dig through some remote sessions since I have my laptop with me and print a bass and drum mix. I can do a demo of it with the different pickup configurations next week. Most likely the recordings are all the P pickup.

thank you… the P pickup is what I’m most interested to hear anyway

Just a note that someone is selling the brass pickup rings that match this bass in the accessories section here
Thanks for the heads up. I just bought them. We will see if they fit with the EMG bridge pickup. That might be the reason the original isn’t there. It also might be an excuse to keep it and look for the original pickups.

They are the wrong color, but the bridge one will fit IFF the screws of the current pickup sit flush (or below) with the plane of the body.
