This is my baby....I played her at SXSW! So here is the story. I was looking for a bass to take down to SXSW that I wouldn't be too concerned about if it happened to disappear. So I found a Squier Jazz V and decided to have some fun.
I removed the labels and got a bunch of decals and made this into my Hawaii tribute bass. She is all stock and has flush mount strap locks on the back so she can be worn with a Slinger strap. She is Alder with a maple neck and whatever kind of wood Squier uses for "rosewood"
I gave her a really nice set up with D'Addario Chromes strings. I have to admit that she plays and sounds just as good as my G&L JB 5. This one is a little punchier but almost the same. I dressed the fret ends so there is no fret sprout even here during a New England winter. String spacing is slightly narrower than a fender V, but not as narrow as my G&L. 34" scale length and 9.65lbs on a postal scale. She is in really great shape, the finish is remarkably tough. There is a little cracking around one of the strap locks, this happened when I drilled the hole.
