Details

This Foundation 5 is something of a rarity since it has the matching headstock. I don't recall ever seeing another Generation 2 Foundation 5 with the matching headstock.

The bass plays and sounds very good indeed. The pickups are Peavey single coils and the controls are volume/volume/tone. Some of the older Peavey passive basses had controls that were unique in the way they worked but this bass has controls that work the same as those on a Fender Jazz bass. Straightforward and easy to use.

The neck is straight and the set up is spot on with low buzz free action. The strings are fresh D'Adarrio XL's. The truss rod works fine. The condition of the bass is excellent but not pristine. There is one spot on the face of the bass above and between the pickups that looks like a ding was touched up. I included a photo of the area that makes it look worse than it is. You have to get the angle just right to see it. The neck is unmarked and the maple fingerboard has a lovely hard clear finish on it. The bass weighs 9 pounds, 11 ounces.

Ships with no case or optional case is an SKB that fits the bass well and is $50 additional.

Buyer will pay actual shipping cost. Paypal is okay.

Awesome bass, Chuck. This was (is ?) your baby !

These are some of THE best sounding passive basses, ever. Using them for recordings is where they really shine. No annoying 60 cycle hum, and warm, round notes. GLWTS buddy !
What are those pickups? I always thought they were single coils in a VFL shaped case. Are they something else?
Thanks.

Someone's had one of these (plain headstock though, not painted) for sale for, like, the past five years in the town I live in; he throws it up on Kijiji (AKA Canadian Craigslist) every few months.

The guy is asking $500 CAD, but I have to suspect that, given how long he's been trying to sell the thing, he could easily be talked down by anywhere from $50 to $150.

I'm tempted to go and check it out every time he posts it, especially given that I am a huge fan of USA Peaveys, but I absolutely cannot justify another bass right now. :meh::whistle:

This bass never leaves the house because I also have fretted/fretless Cirrus 5's, a Millennium plus 5 and a GV. The Foundation is a great bass but I have become accustomed to the 35" scale basses and just always reach for one of them.

That said, I am making an attempt to reduce my collection of basses and this Foundation is so good that someone should be playing it.

GGGGRRRRRGGGHHHHH!! Why's this one still here, tempting me?!!? It ticks off three boxes for me:

- USA Peavey (I already have three: T-40, Cirrus 6, and TL-Five)

- Black n' maple

- Matching headstock

Please...someone else buy this thing already... :bassist: :woot:

Still available. I will consider working out a trade for a Mesa Subway 115 cab in excellent condition. I would add $$ of course.

I would like to move this one. It is a great bass but I am really trying to reduce my collection of basses.

It is quite puzzling that this bass has not sold. Here are some Foundation 5's for sale that do not have the matching headstock:

If you want this bass contact me and let's work out a deal. I am ready to ship this to a new home where it will get played.

I have one exactly like this, i love the sound of this bass! The tone is so smooth and clean, awesome Peavey made pickups. One and only problem for me is its heavy and pulls to the left.

Chuck can you give me a shipping estimate to zip 54568? With or without the hard case? I love my USA Milly 5’s (the green one I bought from you is my #1), but have been missing some passive growl lately!
