Love this bass, but I love my 5-string Shen even more, so I'm offering this one for sale. Great gig bass, currently setup for orchestra work, strung with Helicore low-tension orchestrals. Has a great jazz sound, too, even with the orchestral strings.
Fully carved, with maple ribs and back (as opposed to the more common willow). Build date is 2003-2004 (see label). This bass is in perfect health; no cracks, one open seam repaired a couple of winters ago. It has a really big, beautiful voice and is very satisfying to play. It compares favorably with instruments costing thousands more and even outplays some of the Pöllmanns I played on back in college, no kidding.
