Brand new fretless 5-string semi-hollow hand-carved archtop bass from master luthier Joe Veillette in New York. Plays like butter, with beautiful versatile tones. Controls are master volume, piezo/magnetic blend, and passive tone control. You can go full piezo for a warm woody upright tone, all the way to full magnetic for a pretty straight-ahead electric fretless tone (more rounded than Jaco, and I think more versatile in a band mix). The blends in between the extremes are all very useful too, always mwahhhhh. It's just a super cool bass.
Sitka spruce arched top over poplar body, ebony fingerboard, and tailpiece. Ebony and wenge dovetail bridge. The neck is maple, with a really pretty subtle flame to it, doesn't show in photos well. This bass just feels all about the wood(s) when you play it. Everything just kind of sings in unison, if that makes sense.
Very sharply dressed overall with the black binding on the body and black hardware. Not a blemish or scratch on her.
17mm spacing at the bridge, 1.75" nut width, very comfortable to play. Just under 8 lbs 14 oz.
