For trade I've never done drugs but I must be high to list this Drake "Super P" fully custom active P-bass!

There is about a 90% chance I'll pull this listing but I figured it really won't hurt to throw it out there and see what happens. This is my first of two Drake Custom basses. I don't really want to part with it, but I just haven't been playing it lately. My playing needs have changed in the past few years and I'm generally reaching for my Stingray or my Drake Custom Jazz these days.

Here are the specs:

-Roasted basswood body with hand rubbed gloss finish - (no colors, tints, dyes, or paints. That is the natural color of roasted basswood after the clear finish was applied)
-Roasted maple neck - 34" scale
-Macassar ebony fingerboard with gold mother of pearl dot inlays
-Vintage spec stainless steel frets
-Red tort guard
-Hipshot hardware (Ultralight tuners and chrome plated brass bridge)
-Dunlop straplocks
-Nordstrand pickups (NP4a with Big Split at the bridge) and active/passive 2-band Nordy preamp. Controls are: vol/vol, treb/bass, master tone (with active/passive push/pull - tone works in both active and passive)
-Weight is around 9 lbs, maybe less, and the balance is perfect

Neck specs:
Nut width is likely somewhere between 1.5625" and 1.625" - very comfortable.
7.25" radius.

Neck thickness (top to bottom at various frets):
1st .825"
3rd .840"
5th .850"
7th .860"
9th .870
12 .890"

Sound sample here (this may have been with the old preamp, which was EMG, but same pickups - you get the idea.)

$2450 shipped or best fair offer - lower 48 USA. I realize customs lose value overnight but I have over $3000 into it and would rather keep than completely lose my shirt. A new one would be a lot more since prices on everything have gone up lately (another reason I should probably keep it, but we'll see!)

Ships in a super high quality Road Runner gig bag (pictured.)

Trades? Sure. In rough order of preference:

-Fender American Precision Elite (P/J configuration with spoke wheel truss rod - natural ash/maple preferred but open to other colors)
-Fender American Precision Ultra (P/J configuration)
-USA Peavey Millennium Plus
-G&L El Toro
-EBMM Cutlass (single "P" style bass)
-Maybe some kind of Reverend bass
-Maybe a 4-ohm bass cab (1x12 preferred)
-Vintage and/or unique instruments, e.g. old MIJ basses
-Rickenbacker bass - prefer dot inlays

Plus or minus cash as needed though I don't have a ton that I can add. Absolutely no basses with Jazz necks (1.5" nut width.) I don't really play 5+ strings or shorter-than-34"-scale basses and I already have a fretless.

But try me with whatever. Cash is, of course, king.

I've owned, custom ordered, and played many basses from Drake Custom. I had the opportunity to watch this one first hand in the build process in Andrew Drake's shop and have also played it. It is a fine example of Drake's superior fit, finish, and playability. Super gig worthy instrument.

If the Fender vibe in a PJ configuration is your thing and you like the specs, I wouldn't hesitate on this one.

Just so you know I'm genuine, the one pictured in my avatar and in the photo below, was my #1 for the 6 or 7 years before Covid. I'm idle now, otherwise I'd have it on stage at every opportunity.

Tim's listing is a great bass, and he is a great TBer. Buy with confidence.

Thanks Koog! I remember that black and tort one as well, sweet bass.

Leaning heavily toward keeping unless you 1) are interested in buying outright or 2) can trade an American Precision Elite in natural ash/maple plus cash to me.

I'll keep this open until we leave on vacation next week anyway...

If I were to buy a P bass this would be it, P/J gives more tone choices. I have a jazz that looks similar.
