Just updated. Will trade for a Fender AVRI '62 Jazz in a color (preferably black or red but not sunburst).

I have been asked why selling this after a month. Nothing is wrong with the bass. I also have a Stingray Classic and wanted to try a Sabre Classic. After playing both, I decided to keep the Stingray. The Sabre is a little more old school and more versatile but I prefer the Stingray for my projects. Thanks.

Wow really nice bass. Looks great in blue. Just out of curiousity: the pre-Ernie Ball sabre has three little switch and the classic has a five way switch. What is the exact difference? Seems like the five way switch is even more versatile than the Pre Ernie ball version? If this was one with a maple board I would be all over it.

Does classic sound the same as the old ones, in general (besides the 5 way switch of course)? Do they have the exact same pickups?

they sound pretty similar though i think the pre-eb sounds beefier, they're two very deep and big sounding basses. the pre-eb has two 8 pole piece pickups and the eb sabre has one 8 pole at the bridge and a 16 pole neck pickup. the poles in the neck pickup are the size of a jazz bass, and the 5 way switch has different coil options. classic and eb era ones have the same functions but different switch locations but on the eb era ones 1 is neck only, 2 is neck and bridge, 3 is bridge, 4 is top coil of the neck pickup and 5 is the bridge pickup and the bottom coil of the neck pickup. The pre-eb has a bright switch, a phase switch and a pickup selector switch. A pre-eb sabre is much rarer, only about 6,000 of them in the world
