Great condition 1998 EBMM Fretless Stingray!

9.1 lb
- reasonable weight for an old ‘Ray!

Really thought this one was a keeper, but sadly it’s the first on the chopping block after a tough tax year :crying:

Got this in a trade only a few months ago and put some new D’Addario Tapewounds on it. Other than that, it’s only gotten a few hours of play time in my hands. All hardware and electronics work perfectly fine and the rosewood fingerboard is crazy smooth. This bass has got some serious mojo and is so much fun to play, especially with the tapes.

Only a few cosmetic things I would note:
- pickup pole pieces have some rust on them. I’ve heard you can clean them but haven’t gotten around to that as it doesn’t affect the tone at all
- tiny gloss finish crack on the treble side of the neck joint (as seen in photo)
- a few little nicks on the body, the biggest along the side under the control plate (as seen in photos)

Will come with a Guitar Research hard shell case.

Asking for $1750 plus shipping. Venmo F&F preferred for obvious reasons, but open to negotiation.

Local Southern California offers highly encouraged! I travel around for work a lot, so I’d be happy to meet somewhere.

Feel free to reach out with any questions!

I don't remember seeing a factory de-fretted Stingray before? ... UNLIND, does that mean unlinded?
Yeah I don’t shop around for fretless basses too much but I usually just see unlined boards on stingrays too

This is what I'm wondering as well. Did this bass come from the factory unlined?
So I just had someone message me who had looked into the history of this bass with EBMM and they mentioned that this is likely a new neck with a defretted rosewood board as the 98 Fretless rays normally came with an unlined pau ferro board.

This checks out since the old session player I got this from was talking about how he’s a huuuge Tony Levin fan and that’s why this was his main player for a while.

That being said, the truss rod works great and the saddle height can be adjusted no problem.

Feel free to reach out with any other questions and I’ll try to answer them to the best of my ability!

S/o to the person that helped me learn even more about this bass! I love the TB community
