Well, my beautiful butterscotch body just sold (BASS body, that is, perhaps I need to clarify, lol :D) leaving me with a homeless fretless neck that would be best suited for an actual fretless player.

The neck and fingerboard are made of insanely gorgeous quartersawn goncalo alves from our friends at Warmoth. It's a P neck so 1.65" at the nut. Factory lines and dots, and beautiful professionally-done fingerboard coating with only one tiny chip in the overhang that I could find. The coating is in great shape since I almost never play this bass. Look at it, you can practically hear the MWAHH from the pictures. Tuners are chrome Schaller BML, from Warmoth, as is the string tree. The string tree has a small chip in the chrome coating that you likely would not have noticed had I not mentioned it. Condition is fantastic, and any weird spots in the pictures are reflections from my house.

The neck alone cost me well over $600 when you count the work that was done to it so I cannot let this go too cheap. Lowered to $499 shipped or best offer, lower 48 for the loaded neck. Neck plate and bolts NOT included. And of course I'm losing money no matter what, but so it goes.

I always like to consider trades but, realistically, without a good chunk of cash in my direction, I'm probably not interested. That said, here is my usual trade disclaimer:

Some things I DON'T want: basses with J necks (1.5" nut width), fretless basses (already have one that I don't play), basses with more than 4 strings, basses that have scale lengths shorter than 34", upright or EUB basses, acoustic basses. I'm pretty good on amps (just bought a head and two cabs) but I would consider a nice light combo amp. I don't really use pedals but throw anything my way if you want. I could also use a decent double gig bag (two bass gig bag, that is) + cash. Trades that include cash in my direction will generally be more desirable.

Things I'd maybe trade for: FBass BN4, G&L Matador, EBMM Sabre Classic (if 10 lbs or less), other G&L basses, old MIJ/vintage basses, active American or similar P/J basses, maybe a nice light (sub 30 lbs) 1x10 or 1x12 cab or a light combo. Throw some ideas my way if you want.

I read through the thread and ad, and looked it up, but thought I’d ask first hand how the weight of this wood compares to maple. Thanks!

@JTE70 Goncalo is dense, but then again so is maple. I want to say the neck is about 3 lbs loaded with tuners. Which isn't too bad for a loaded neck. I can double check when I get home.

The internet says a cubic foot of goncalo is about 59 lbs and a cubic foot of rock maple is about 45 lbs. By that logic, a 3 lb loaded goncalo neck, accounting for 14.4 ounces (0.9 lbs) in tuner weight, would be about 2.50 lbs if it were maple.
