Details

This is a 2014 G&L L-2500, made in Fullerton. Swamp ash body with a greenburst finish and wood binding. Quartersawn maple neck with matching fingerboard and black pearl face dots. Has the K-mod 3-way switch. Weighs about 9.8 lbs.

Overall great condition. Finish has light surface scratches that may not show in photographs. There’s one small area by the neck pickup, bass side (where one might rest their thumb) that is slightly dulled. This is hard to notice, depending on the light and angle. Tuners and bridge saddles show signs of use but nothing major.

The knobs don’t all turn with the same amount of resistance, for some reason. The bass knob feels perfect, while the volume and treble knobs turn more loosely. They all function, this is just something I noticed.

One other thing, there is definitely some noise in the signal. Whether or not it’s in the normal or acceptable range, I don’t know, but it’s not 100% silent.

Just trying to be as thorough as I can. Overall a great bass with rock-solid construction, and if you’ve played one, you know how awesome they sound. I hate to part with it, but I’m not playing much and could use the money. I would like to get $1400 shipped, but I’m willing to negotiate. PayPal F&F would be preferred, but I’m flexible on that. It will ship in its G&G hard case. Unfortunately, I can’t locate the key for it.

I’m going to take this off the market for now. I want to address the output jack and possible electronics/noise issue. And I just might end up keeping it.

Hopefully just a jack change or maybe shielding in the cavity , had to do both of those to my G&L

Putting this back on the market. I had a new output jack installed, pots cleaned/lubricated, and grounding checked.

The tech said the grounding/wiring was all fine but that the pickups are “severely microphonic,” to my surprise. He recommended new pickups. When I asked G&L’s service dept, their response was that it’s very unusual for L series pickups to be microphonic, but that maybe they weren’t potted long enough, and recommended having them repotted.

I don’t detect anything that’s indicative of the the pickups being microphonic, but I’m no expert.

I’ll leave it up to the buyer to make their own assessment and I’m dropping the price to $1,200 shipped.

Sweet bass. Love the color.

Do you know if on the 2014s they did the shielding paint in the pup cavities with an added ground wire from the pup to the shielded cavity. I recall that Cort first started doing that in the Tributes a while ago and at some point G&L started doing it in the USAs as well.

Sorry, I don’t know.

Looks like a great bass! Any fret wear or issues with the truss rod?
