Here is the absolute pinnacle of Talkbass flavor of the month circa 2018ish.
These are excellent basses. Sometime around 2019 or so I placed a pre-order for the Hammersmith K bass. Possibly one of the coolest basses to ever not exist.
Sometime during the next year or so while hype was still building, and people were still mostly excited Marko offered to send a bass he had at the shop around to everyone who'd preordered but never played any of his other basses. I loved that bass, and bought it after it made the rest of the rounds. It was a C-4 with Nordstrand Big Split pickups. I've played almost exclusively Nordstrand pickups ever since.
A few years later I began making a transition to 5 strings. I got ahold of Marko to talk about getting a 5 string. He was mostly laying low at this time, but still communicated with me once in a while. I traded him my C-4, and my K bass deposit on this C-5. Its been a while, but I believe the body is originally from a bass he took to NAMM, and the neck was from something else.
As configured now, it has a Big Split in the neck position, and a Big Man in the bridge position. Controls are series/single/parallel switch, volume, blend, tone. The bass had a preamp in its previous life, but is completely passive now. The battery box is there if you wanted to add a preamp though.
This bass is excellent in almost every way, but I don't play it a ton because its too nice to be my backup, and I had a custom bass made by a local luthier recently that's been my number 1.
I've been thinking about selling a bunch of stuff recently and getting something a little nicer. So I'd be most interested in trading this and adding cash. I'm most interested in a 5 string rickenbacker, or 5 string USA Ernie Ball. Natural and sunburst finishes will not be considered.
