Up for sale is my BSX Allegro. Near mint condition. Comes with original gig bag, neck adjusting Allen wrench, and instructions.

As you see in the photos, I added a wedge under the bridge to raise the E, rather than modifying the bridge. It works well. I’ve also added a shim (2 biz cards) under the nut. The little foam mute works well and really helps with thump. I’ve got this sounding as close to an amplified acoustic as possible. It is currently strung with D’Addario Helicore Orchestras. The only issue is the tab on the battery box is broken off (previous owner) but the door still functions as it should. It’s just a little harder to open.

I made a few audio recordings going from the bass directly into a Scarlett 2i2 and straight into Logic. No EQ apart from the onboard NTMB pre. I set the treble and mid at 0, and boosted the bass about 50%.

When I play it out I usually use a Fishman Pro Platimun Pre. With some EQ shaping it sounds really nice. Very, very close to the real deal. It’s perfect for $100 dive bar gigs or outside summer stages.

Thanks for looking/listening and I’m happy to answer Qs.

Edit: I’m willing to ship to the west half of the US too. IME, shipping costs bump up with the extra distance, so we’d just need to work it out.

Curious why the shims? I'm assuming you wanted the action higher but why?

That’s correct, scuba. I simply wanted it to feel as close to my UB as possible. With my UB there is much more clearance on the E string than the G, and I’ve grown used to it for better or worse.

Are the modifications you have done to this bass reversible?

Yes they are. With the strings very loose, the bridge comes right up and the shim will slide out. Same with the nut.

The bridge is held in place with two dowels that stick up from the body. The bridge has cavities in the feet to match the dowels. This is BSX’s design, not a mod. Since the bass disassembles, that system makes it easy to reassemble with no guesswork as to where the bridge sits. When you disassemble for travel, you just need to use painters tape to keep the bridge flat against the body to prevent it from moving. The (4) pickup wires go through the treble side of the foot. These are super thin. If you look at IMG_2710, you’ll see a notch in the bridge shim. This was for easy (shim) install/removal, accounting for the p/u wires.

Thanks for the Qs. Keep ‘em coming!
