Here we have a very nice Cort GB-75 5 string. This is essentially a 34" scale version of a Lakland 55-02 or 55-95. Cort was the builder of the Lakland Skyline series of basses.

This one is in very good shape with minimal signs or wear and no noticeable dings, dents or scratches. There is a spot on the back of the neck where the wood is slightly discolored. You can't feel it when you run your hand over it but it is visually there. Not sure what the story is as it was like this when I first got the bass.

I had the original pickups removed and replaced with a Bartolini multi coil bridge pickup and an EMG neck pickup. There is a Bartolini adjustable buffer in the control cavity that enables the two pickups to be evenly balanced as the EMG is active and the Bart is passive and have different output levels. This upgrade made a world of difference in the sound of the bass. It really does sound like a Lakland now.

Controls are Volume, Blend, Midrange and stacked Bass and Treble. There is also a three position mini toggle to select the different coil option in the Bart bridge pickup.

It's a very comfortable 34" scale with 18mm string spacing and a VERY low action. No buzzing and a very fast neck. Currently strung with a set of Elixir Nickel Roundwounds.

Very comfortable weight of 9 pounds 3.2 ounces on my digital scale.

It will be well packed in a nice gig bag for shipping.

I am letting this one go because like many of us here on TalkBass, I have more nice basses than I need and it's not getting any play time these days. Someone need to enjoy this budget friendly Lakland 5 string clone!

Buyer pays "actual" shipping. I get reduced rates because of my business accounts with UPS and FedEx so I will pass that along. Thanks for looking.....

Oh I see you have the weight in a picture
Yes, the weight is pictured. The fingerboard looks like Ebony, but I think it’s actually very dark rosewood. I don’t know for certain what the body wood is because it’s fully finished. I suspect I could research that with Cort and find out from their products specs. It’s a very nice bass that I have enjoyed thoroughly. It’s just not being played these days and I thought I’d offer it up. Let me know if I can answer other specific questions. Thanks for your interest.

To the degree a 70s jazz bridge pickup is shifted back, the GB-75 neck pickup is shifted forward, which is a very smart idea, leaving all three coils in very useful positions.

What is the preamp?
The preamp is the original Cort preamp which supports this new pick up configuration quite well. I considered changing it, but after hearing how it sounded, I decided to leave it the way it was. It had the coil tap switch, already part of the configuration which was needed to properly utilize the Bartolini bridge pick up.
