Putting up one of my Greco PMBs today! This model in a 1977 (first year they were introduced I believe) PMB-800 (hard to differentiate between the PMB-800 and 1000, but I believe this to be an 800) in special order White. Part of the Project series, these were aimed at being the best emulations of the originals that Greco could make, and boy could they make 'em. The PMB is a copy of the Rickenbacker 4001S, with mono output, three piece neck-thru construction, and an unlacquered fretboard. Additionally, instead of the traditional dual truss rod system of Rickenbacker, they featured a more user friendly single truss rod, in line with most other manufacturers. I've been using Greco PMBs for a few years now, and cannot give them enough praise. This one is in good condition, with some minor paint chips along the edges, and has faded to a lovely banana cream. I had it shipped from Japan and modified it to 4000 specs. It features a custom Pickguardian guard, P-bass style wiring with 500k pots, a Brass hipshot bridge and Classic Amplification pickup. I have all the original parts that will be included in the sale should you want to restore it to stock form. The original pickguard was painted white (which I was able to mostly remove), as was the pickup cover. The original bridge pickup functions fully, however one of the threads on the side of the bass plate was stripped, hence the Classic Amplification pickup. It was one of the last units shipped before CA moved to Scotland, and the baseplate is spaced for the Greco pickup surround and bolts, which differ from Rickenbackers slightly. The baseplate on the CA was a little oversized for the stock route, so the bridge pickup cavity has been slightly enlarged to accomodate this. I will include the matching CA neck pickup with sale. The only other mod was moving the strap button to the neck heel, but it can be easily switched back to the upper horn. This bass in stock form is quite lightweight and had a bit of neck dive, but is now better balanced with the brass Hipshot. The original bridge was suffering from tail lift (really authentic to the originals ;) ) but is included, although if you prefer I can swap it to a more stock-accurate Allparts replacement. The bass did not come with a gigbag, and I've simply used one of my spares. I'm located in Los Angeles, and prefer local pickup, but shipping can certainly be arranged. If you would like to try it out first, we can make it happen!

Asking $1300 with all the upgrades. Anyways, here's the important bits:

Beautiful bass! That looks just like my old 74 Rick 4000, down to the color and Hipshot bridge. (Except mine was a set neck). I’m still downsizing, otherwise would be sorely tempted. Greco made fantastic instruments in the 70’s.
Good luck with the sale!IMG_0588.jpeg

Seeing that one was part of what inspired this conversion!
