Up for sale is a 1983 G&L L-1000 (Wunkay) Bass in excellent, all-original condition, including its original, fully functional hard-shell case.
This vintage beauty was built at the Fullerton, California plant while Leo Fender was still actively involved in G&L's production. In fact, the body and neck were made March 22 and April 4, 1983, respectively making it one of the last
L-1000s made after G&L received a "cease and desist" letter from Fender's attorneys in February 1983 and they changed over to the "hook" headstock you see now. This is a true piece of history.
It weighs just under 8 pounds. 14 ounces - unusually light for a G&L. It has minimal fret wear, in particular for the 40+-year-old instrument, and a functional truss rod.
When I bought this back in the day from the Owl Farm @dukeplaysbass, the bass and the setup was so perfect it almost played itself. It's still like that.
Features & Specs:
• Body: Natural-finished ash with stunning grain
• Neck: (Gloss removed) Maple with a maple fretboard and straight, too!
• Pickups: Original MFD humbucker with signature "OMG" mode
• Electronics: Passive, with volume, treble, and bass controls, plus a 3- way switch for series, parallel, and single-coil modes
• Tuners & Bridge: All original hardware in excellent working order
• Condition: Clean, well-preserved, with minimal signs of wear for its age
Ships anywhere in the continental U.S. for just $50!
Will consider trade +/- $ for Warwick Corvette $$
• Case: Original hard-shell case included
