The obligatory "Never thought I was going to do this, but...." Something came up this past week and I need cash QUICK.
If you want a Fodera-like bass for under 2k, you aren't going to find anything better. I have been on TB since 2001 under the handle Jacochops. There are few bass guitars that equal this at any price point. I have a Fodera, Shawn May, R Bass, F Bass, CB/Cliff Bordwell...this hangs with or passes them all!
I had this bass made for me around 2004-ish and I sold it around 2007. I found it here on TB, and got it back last fall. It has juuuust about every bell and whistle I could get back then! Super light African ribbon mahogany body, insanely busy burled maple top and headstock, 3 piece quartersawn maple neck with graphite inlays, 5A birdseye maple boad with REAL abalone blocks (not cheaper and commonly available abalam), white fingerboard binding, tiny mandolin frets, jazz bass width (1.5 inch) nut.
The pickups are Nordstrand dual coils under birdseye maple covers, and I installed a brand new Trickfish/Fodera preamp with single-series-parallel switching for each pickup and switches for standby/kill and active/passive! It growls like CRAZY! Basically, the Fodera package The knobs are Mouser/Fodera styled and the strap buttons are Dunlop.
It plays ridiculously fast! Has a very clean articulate quick string response. If you closed your eyes, you would think you were on a tricked out Monarch. It comes with a brand new teardrop hardcase. The bass weighs in the mid-high 8s! A feather.
Today is Monday March 24. The bass is 1999, but if this sells by tomorrow night, it is 1799!! After Tuesday night, back up to 1999. This is a bit of a 911 sale, so come get this killer bass now!
