Drake "Rita" Mk4 Prototype Bass is one of two basses that were used to demonstrate Drake's building techniques and is the prototype for what became the Mk4 model.


  • Prototype of Mk4 model
  • Body: Wenge (African Rosewood) center block with Padauk wings and hand-rubbed oil varnish finish
  • 34" scale length
  • Quarter-sawn, two-piece Wenge neck with slim profile
  • Wenge fretboard with 24 frets and faux turquoise inlays
  • 1 1/2" nut width
  • Two carbon fiber rods and dual-action truss rod for stability
  • EMG 3.0 Jazz pickups with built-in preamps
  • Weight: 9.5 lbs
  • Two volume and one tone controls
  • Hipshot A-style bridge with adjustable string spacing
Very nice Drake Model 4 that plays and sounds incredible. It shows pick marks but other than that it’s in very good condition. Andrew Drake is known for his attention to detail and overall quality is top shelf. You can feel the quality of this bass when you hold it and the neck being made of wenge sounds incredible. Feel free to ask any questions. Not looking for trades at this time.

Ah nice! An old one for sure. 2010 is when I went full time building and started Drake Custom. This when we put the first logos in, so it was most likely made that summer. This is one of two Mk4 basses made at the same time. Nice to see her again. Good luck with sales. If someone buys this bass, the can send it to me for the warranty recertification and inspection. If all is perfect and everything works, I will reset the warranty for the new owner. It will be returned with a nice set up and fret polish. Looks to be in great shape in the piccys.
