I bought this bass shortly after Pat Wilkins built it for the 2012 NAMM Show. Personally I think it's the nicest bass Pat has ever built. I took it to Europe in 2022 for a tour and it performed perfectly!
Here is a video where Pat expounds on the virtues of this particular bass:
It's lightweight (8 pounds 9 ounces), easy to play with 18mm String Spacing and sports a lovely 34"Scale Rosewood Board with Rolled Edges. The Mango Top and Matching Headstock are really stunning. The Chambered Body is Alder and I had a set of Custom Wood Knobs made to complete the look.
It also has a Back Tilted Headstock that does not require a string retainer to keep the strings tight on the nut. Pat told me he doesn't build basses like that any more because it's too expensive and uses three time the amount of wood. A very nice touch IMO!
Currently it has a set of Bartolini B-Axis Jazz Bass Pickups in it as well as an Aguilar OBP-3 Active Preamp. In the photos it has a set of Reed James pickups that I sold. I have had a number of different pickups installed in this bass over the years. I can swap the Barts out with a set of Nordstrand Hum-Cancelling Pickups if desired. Personally I prefer the Barts for what I have been using it for lately.
Pat originally spec'd it out with a Hipshot Chrome Bridge and Chrome Clover Style Tuners and I never had any reason to change them.
I will consider trades that net me some cash but I'd much prefer a cash sale. Only 34" scale 5 strings that weigh less than 9.5 pounds will be considered. Hit me up via Private Message if you have any questions or offers.
I will include shipping in the CONUS if sold at my asking price, otherwise it will be at buyer's expense. It will ship in a very nice vintage style Hard Shell Case also in excellent condition.
Thanks for looking!
