Made in only 2000, this is an Ibanez SR745.
A very light and feature packed bass, this SR745 sports a mahogany body which is very slim and comfortable. The neck is a 5-piece bubinga/wenge number with a wenge fingerboard (someone was trying to take sales from Warwick, methinks!).
It's a 24 fret neck, 34" scale, 16.5mm spacing at the AccuCast bridge.
The pickups are passive and they are run into the Varimid 3 band EQ with sweepable mids. If you're not sure what that means in practical terms, the mid control has a Wal/Alembic kind of filter aspect to it which really allows you to tailor the frequency to fit any situation you'd encounter.
The bass and treble boost/cut work as you'd expect. And they are formidable!
Tonally, this bass can really do it all. From throbbing dub which can almost damage your amp (ask me how I know) to the clickity clackity Fieldy tone (as his bass used similar components and came out in a similar era) and everything in between.
It's been set up with nice low action, strings are a new set of Dunlop Marcus Miller stainless.
And yeah, being 26 years old, it's seen use. There are dings and scratches all over. I tried my best to show you what it looks like in the pics.
The worst thing seems to be a possible B tuner mishap long ago. It was replaced (with an Ibanez spec Gotoh tuner from the 90s, I think) and there are signs that the wood was glued back in place. But it's rock solid there! No structural problems to notate.
And the truss cover, I made myself, as it was missing one when I got it. These are still available to buy, if that bothers you.
