I remember having one just like that. You have a P bass, right there, if you ask me. With an Audere, or something similar, that would be very nice. bump for a great P\J bass :bassist:

I used to own this bass. After selling it to 82Daion, I missed it and bought another, which is my current avatar picture.

These are great basses indeed, and with the passive tone control alone are monstrously versatile.

The youtube clip below is of a guy playing a BB3000MA, which is the same exact bass as the one for sale with with chrome hardware and a reverse-P pickup. This clip gives a good indication of the kind of tone this bass is capable of.

A bump for a fine bass.

Based on the item being offered and your TB screen name, it would seem your values are in the right place (I am a Japanese bass fanatic whose collection does include an unlined fretless Daion Savage as well as a couple of Yammy BB's).

Rock on.

I played this bass at the last Bowlus Bass Borg, and it was freaking great! I REALLY wish I could get this thing! My wallet sure isn't feelin' me, though!

HELP !!!!! Major GAS attack here!! I love those 80's BB basses. (Joy Division and New Order fan here). But I need a new amp much more than a bass :(
Just out of curiosity, would you ship that to Europe?

I'd have to think about it, but as long as you cover all the duties/extra shipping, I can't see why it would be a problem. I'd probably have to get a different box for the bass if I shipped it overseas-the one I have will do fine within the US, but I wouldn't trust it for that kind of abuse.

Also, be advised that the case for this thing is a sturdy, wood-framed affair, and weighs a lot-that might have some effect on the shipping cost for overseas destinations.

For the US, shipping would probably be about $30.

Some more info on this bass:

The 3000S was the result of Yamaha wooing Jeff Berlin as an endorser. JB had tried the BB1200 and BB2000 (the real antecedent of the 3000) and liked them, save for MUCH thicker necks, almost like bad-CBS/Fender Precision necks. So they reduced the neck for him, and later when things did not work out for JB to endorse them, they went ahead and sold this slim-neck version as the BB3000S. Maple/mahogany neckthru with alder wings, and the 'chocolate-stripe' (macassar) ebony fingerboard with some suspiciously familiar-looking MOP oval inlays and gold parts.

The neck pickup is a typical PBass, meaty tone. The aft blade pickup is one of these bass' signature features: Lots of aggressive back-pickup J-like tone, nothing else like it. Can be really squawky with lots of mid boost!! The best I can tell you: Full tone, but not a lot of that unuseable deep, deep end meat that sometimes overpowers a PBass, thicker than a Jazz. Recording engineers in Nashville STILL rave about what great recording basses these were.

First rate construction. For somebody after something Fender-like in a neckthru and just a little different, something you don't see every day, these things are the cat's ass.
