This might look real familiar, 'cause it's the same text from ivlucas' recent ad!!!

I bought one of these NEW when he won the one he just sold. I was very excited because they were designed to be 34 scale with 18mm string spacing....I got it...it's not.

It's 35" scale w/ 5/8" string spacing. I could probably make the string spacing right, but I was looking for a 34".

So - here it is...It's spent about 30 minutes outside the box - since it's NEVER been really played, I'm selling for $900 shipped firm (shipping included to lower 48) with money order or bank check. If you'd like to use paypal, cost is $900, but shipping is extra. Insurance is included at no cost to you on either method so your purchase is fully protected.

Two J Pickups,
Volume/Blend/Stacked Treble & Bass Control & Active/Passive Switch (excellent range of tonal control, by the way, with very little adjustment).
HIGH GLOSS ASH BODY
BLOCK INLAYS
21 frets
Weighs 9.5lbs on BR scale
35" Scale
String spacing 5/8"

It's simply awesome tone wise and playability wise, but I can't take the 35" anymore on 4 hour gigs without killing my left hand.

Good catch - thanks. The description says "Ash," though, and all the stuff on Web sites for the 4 and 5 strings say ash body. There is nothing on any Web site I've found (yet) about these 6ers...

However, I did contact Ken Smith regarding the design - note his response - "We are the designer for the Bass and not the maker. My suggested design was 34" scale 9mm nut and 18mm bridge. What Brooklyn Gear orders from the factory after that is their business, and not ours to control. Like I said, we just design for them. I hope it works out for you."

So...

BTW - got the PMs...will have to check on international shipping on Monday...may add anywhere from $50 to $75 to the $900 since it would have to ship overseas, and, doing so, insurance would have to include insurance in there as well. I know that I received a bass from Canada and it cost over $100 in shipping...that was half the cost of the bass...and that was only Canada! Will let you know if I don't get any domestic PMs this weekend. The $900 shipping included, I should mention, is for continental US only. (UPDATE 1/2/08: See first post for shipping/payment options).

The tone is excellent.

The "slap" tone the reason I wanted a maple board. The harder maple board gives a sharper attack than a rosewood. My Adler is a maple board, and it's the best. If I want a little more "fat" sound, I can always add some neck pickup or bass. If you boost the treble to get a more distinct pop, it just adds too much hiss.

If you check my Myspace (link in signature), note the videos - the bass that Jaco is playing has a maple board. One of my favorite slap tones comes from Marcus Miller - and this is as close as we're gonna get to a Marcus 6.

Once again, if this was a 34", I would NOT be selling it. I even have an email in to Brooklyn Gear to see if they'll make me a 34" neck and I'll send them the 35" back. If that happens (but I'm not holding my breath over it), I'll keep it...that is, if it doesn't sell before they get back to me.

UPDATE: Won't be able to get to the UPS store to check on international shipping until Wednesday - Office is locked today and I can't get in...sorry.

$900 shipped to the 48 continuous states. Still haven't heard from Brooklyn Gear either as to whether someone wants to make me a 34" neck/fingerboard for what this was supposed to be, so it's still for sale!!

I apologize for the delay in our response. We were taking a break for the holidays before we start getting crazy for the NAMM Show.

The bass you received was a prototype that was originally reviewed by Ken Smith. The basses will be 34". Though I will not have a 34" neck for a few months as the factory has already finished production on our last round.

If you can hold out that is great. Otherwise when you are ready to purchase a new one you can contact us directly.

This same posting will be sent directly to you in an email.

In good faith and good conscience we want to make sure you get what you wanted.

I'm sure you all know what this means.....

I'm glad these will be a 34" scale - it gives the bass world a nice 6 string maple fretboard option that, honest to goodness, you can't find ANYWHERE! And with the Ken Smith Design name for awesome playability and an excellent pre-amp, this will be a phenomenal instrument. This is indeed great news for 2008!

It's also great news for this KSD that I'm selling - it will be one of only a handful of 35" scales (I only know of 3 of them...). So (I'll probably kick myself for doing this later on, but) the price is now more attractive than it was before!

$900 shipped (to the lower 48) for what's going to amount to a collector's item. (UPDATE 1/2/08: No international shipping - way too much. See first post for shipping/payment options).

Just returned from visiting post office and UPS...here's result:

No international shipping - it's cost-prohibitive to include shipping, or even bump it up a little...it would have to be bumped up a lot!

Shipping included to only lower 48 for $900, payable by bank check or money orders.

Or, will take paypal, but buyer pays shipping additional (only to lower 48 since I ship UPS).

Insurance will be included at my expense on either method.
