Hard Times. Selling the one bass I told my wife I'd never sell.

Lakland Standard 4-94, SN 139 (ca. 1997), natural ash, Bartolini PUs/preamp; Moses Graphite unlined fretless neck (recently installed by an amazing luthier, this is THE BEST fretless set-up I've ever played--warm, sustaining, easy to play, sensitive, full); Lakland gig bag.
Just the bass: $1299/bo (split shipping)

For the best deal, I'll include the original fretted neck: rosewood board, simply the most comfortable and "musical" neck I've ever played on. I was hoping to keep it and have another bass made around it, but this would be a good deal. A new Lakland neck is $1400!
The bass and extra neck$1899/bo

Bump- I'll bet this is a sweet one, it looks comfy like an old pair of jeans.

You got that right. That's actually why I bought it in the first place in 1997--it just fit like a glove. And then it got better and better!

Here's the story: I never wanted to sell this bass, but then a young luthier named Andrew Henry made a fretless 5-string and gave it to me to play for a couple of months. Well, I liked the 5-string A LOT, and it was very different from the Lakland, and this young builder named a good price for it and I wanted to support him etc. So I bought the bass, but I have to sell the Lakland to pay for it. So, there it is.

Oops! I've futzed around with that page recently. I've fixed the links in the post, although once you go to one of the links you can access the other songs at the top of the page.

Please note--the track "Splinter" on that page is a Sadowsky 5-string and not the Lakland! Apologies for any confusion. "Blue Erudition" is the fretted Lakland and "How Insensitive" is the fretless neck.

The bass is on its way to the left coast. Happy thumping, Michael!
The serial number on this bass was on the side of the headstock (I can't remember exactly where) and also on the heel of the neck, visible when the neck is removed.

Bass arrived safely yesterday and with the fretless neck too ..all intact..Almost afraid to put the fretless neck back on, As the fretted plays effortlessly!!
