Details

This is a Wal Mk I Fretless (unlined) in near mint condition. If you're reading this then you probably already know all about these guitars and how uniquely distinctive they sound. This one has burl maple facings, mahogany core, three piece maple neck and indian ebony fretboard. The inside of the cavity plate at the back says that the guitar was originally produced in December 1984 but was given a new body in January of 1986.

The guitar is in pristine shape for it's age. It barely looks like it's been out of it's case in the bas 25 years. There is one tiny chip in the lacquer right in the tip of the headstock, but aside from that, not a mark.

Comes with it's original case, which is showing it's age a bit. It still functions but has a few dents and the clasps are showing some corosion.

I am asking $4800 for this which will include free shipping and insurance to anywhere in the lower 48 states. Payment is by cashiers check or money order only.

Sorry the pics don't give too much detail, but if you are seriously interested, please contact me and I can send you better ones.

Yeah, I thought I might get this sort of reaction. I'd probably be suspicious too. Just to give you a bit of background. I'm not a bass player, I play guitar mainly, but was always a big fan of Mick Karn so when I saw this come up on Ebay, I jumped at it. Unfortunately, I can't play worth a #$@@, so I decided to sell it. Jsixties is right on the money. I've sold many guitars on Ebay, but their Fees for Final Value and Paypal would be so exorbitant on such a high ticket item, I decided to try this route first. I use the same ID on Ebay, so if you want you could send me a message thru that and I'll confirm that it's me and my feedback there is perfect.

Anyway, that's about it. As for the chip. It is tiny. I can send anyone interested a pic.

Just trying to help, but I do believe the neck is a 9 or 10 piece mix of hornsbeam, maple, and purpleheart. The center piece isn't maple, it's actually 2 pieces of hornsbeam. I love my Wal and I would pick this up in a second if I could. Once you get used to the profile, these necks fit like an old baseball glove.

Thanks a lot Davidjbass! It is a great bass, only not for me, and it's a lot of money to have gathering dust underneath my bed.
Phishaholik obviously knows a lot more about these basses than I do. I can count five pieces sandwiched together for the neck, and the dark strips do look like purpleheart (to my untrained eye).
